About Ball Sort Puzzle
Ball Sort Puzzle is a color sorting game: move the top ball from one tube to another until every occupied tube is full and contains one ball type. This free online version has 99 original starting puzzles. Play directly in your browser without a download or account; you can choose any level, undo a move or restart.
Each hand-drawn ball has a color and an ink shape, so you can identify matching types in more than one way. Unlike versions that pour a whole group at once, this game moves one ball per action. Empty tubes are working space, and a legal matching move is not always the most useful move.
How to play Ball Sort
- 01Select a tube to pick its top ball. Each move transfers one ball.
- 02Choose an empty tube, or a tube whose top ball matches. A full tube cannot receive another ball.
- 03Finish with every non-empty tube full and holding only one ball type. Empty spare tubes are allowed.
Each ball carries an ink shape (circle, square, triangle, diamond or star) so types are distinguishable without relying on color. Tube contents are also described for screen readers.

Ball Sort Puzzle: levels and progress
The first level introduces two ball types. Levels 2–20 use three, 21–50 use four, and 51–99 use five. After the tutorial, every occupied tube starts full and mixed, with two empty spare tubes. The number of surplus color runs to merge increases through the levels. Records for this revised set are stored separately.
All starting arrangements have a solution. A completed level receives a check mark in the selector when browser storage is available. Choosing another level or restarting does not remove completed-level records; an unfinished arrangement is not restored after a reload.
Ball Sort Puzzle tips and strategies
Uncover a buried ball before filling its destination
Suppose an A ball sits above a B. Moving A onto another A can expose B, but filling that destination may leave no place for a later A. Check both the newly exposed ball and the remaining capacity before committing.
Keep useful spare space
An empty tube accepts any top ball, whereas a partly filled tube accepts only its current top type. Try to preserve one flexible destination while gathering a type. If a move removes that flexibility, use Undo and compare another order.
- Keep a spare tube free when possible. It gives you room to uncover a buried ball.
- Look beneath the top ball before filling a tube. A matching move can still block your next step.
- Use Undo to test an idea. There is no timer and restarting does not remove your completed-level record.

Why can’t I move a ball into a tube?
You can move only the top ball. The destination must have an empty slot and be empty or have the same ball type on top. Selecting the same tube again cancels your selection.
What if I get stuck?
Undo your last move or restart the level. All 99 starting puzzles are solvable. You can switch levels at any time without a time limit.
Are completed levels saved?
Completed levels are saved in this browser when local storage is available. Reloading starts a fresh round. Records do not sync across devices and may be removed when you clear browser data.
How many levels are in this Ball Sort Puzzle?
This version has 99 original levels, all available from the selector. Its levels are independent of similarly named apps, so an app’s level number or walkthrough will not necessarily match.
Why is a partly sorted tube not enough to finish?
Every non-empty tube must be full and contain a single type. A tube with two matching balls and unused capacity is still unfinished, even though the colors match.
Is there a timer or a limit on attempts?
There is no countdown or attempt limit. The move counter helps you compare approaches; it does not lock a level or charge for another try.
